Lilydale Lake was only constructed in 1990, mainly to help prevent flooding from Olinda Creek. It's now part of a large recreational parkland incorporating scenic and shoreline paths, wetland areas and boardwalks. We'll be circumnavigating all of this and following Olinda Creek without risk of drowning.

Then it's up to Mt Evelyn Aqueduct Trail which handily connects with Warburton Trail just before where the long, steady descent towards Lilydale begins. 25 km.
