A reschedule of the ride earlier in the season cancelled due to rain.

Westgarthtown is a heritage precinct preserving remnants of the old German dairy farming settlement that was originally known as Neu Mecklenburg. The name was changed in honour of the immigrants' sponsor, William Westgarth. We'll begin our ride from Rushall Railway Station and head up Merri Creek Trail and then along Metropolitan Ring Road Trail. This takes us to lunch at the Italian cheese factory, That's Amore in Thomastown (22km). From there we ride on to explore the nearby Westgarthtown historical sites, cycling a loop of about 6km.

If you want to call it a day after that you can opt for a train from nearby Thomastown Station. For further riding there's the option of riding Darebin Creek Trail to Fairfield (an extra 20km). If you've come by car Rushall Station is just a short ride away from there. Thomastown is on Mernda Line and will also take you back to Rushall if that's where you want to finish up.

To get to rushall by train there's a 9:48 am on Mernda Line leaving Flinders Street Station (Platform 1) that arrives Rushall, 10:10 am.
